LS Extra Curricular Activities 2009-10
ECA's are very important part of life at CDNIS. The school strives to offer a rich programme that develops the whole student. We have over 200 activities on offer throughout the year. We are proud to offer arts and craft, sports, music, drama, games and many other activities. ECA's at CDNIS are diverse and meet the needs and interests of all students.
Session 2 sign up begins on January 18 at 8:30am to January 25 at 8:30am! Please sign up through our online sign up system. Please note, sign ups are NOT on a first come first serve basis but through random automated selection done via a computer system. Students have been assigned a Student ID number which can be found on their previous report cards or obtained from their homeroom teaher. You need this ID number to log/input into the ECA Sign Up System. Please check with your child's homeroom teacher if you have not received your child's Student ID number.
ECA's have been divided up into 2 Sessions for the academic year 2009-10
Teacher Activities A (Prep to G. 2) and B (G. 3 to 6)
which last 10 weeks each.
Session 1 - begins the week of September 21 to the week of November 30.
Session 2 - begins the week of March 1 to the week of May 10th.

Session 1- 16 Weeks- Begin the week of September 21 to the week of January 25
Session 2- 15 Weeks- Begin the week of March 1st to the week of June 7th

Sign Up's
This year you will sign up your child by using the Online Sign Up Form. Session 2 online sign up will become active on January 18 at 8:30am to January 25th at 8:30am only. It is important that you read ALL instructions carefully as there are many importain points that you need to take note of.
Important Instructions:
Parents are expected to sign up during the online sign up period. All late submissions, course changes will be charged an administrative fee.
For paid activities the deadline to make payment is October 5 for session 1 and March 19 for session 2. If payment isn't made by this date, your child will automatically be withdrawn from their course. Please make cheques payable to Canadian Internation School of Hong Kong Limited with Child Name, Student ID #, Activity Name(s), Course Code(s) and Course Date on the back.
Fees for Additions/Cancellations and Changes
The fees are as follows:
1. Signing up after the designated sign up period will encure a late sign up fee if HK$350. NO Pro-rata rates will be given for any courses.
2. Withdrawing from a course after it has begun - HK$300 plus all material costs.
3. Changing a course after the class has begun $300.
4. For paid activities the deadline to make payment is October 5 for session 1 and March 19 for session 2. If payment isn't made by this date then your child will be suspended from all ECA's untill recept of payment. Please make cheques payable to Canadian Internation School of Hong Kong Limited with Child Name,Student ID#, Activity Name(s), Course Code(s) and Course Date on the back.
Cancelled Dates:
The general rule for ECA's: IF YOUR CHILD IS IN SCHOOL and the ECA is scheduled to run that day, THEN THE ECA IS ON. If there is a special cancellation then you will be informed. Otherwise school runned ECA's follow our school calendar. No ECA's on Professional Development days or half days.

Confirmation Process
Once you have completed your online sign up form and it has been entered in to the school's data base the following will occur:
For session 1, you will receive an email the week of September 14, 2009, stating what activities have been assigned to your child. Activities will begin the week of September 21st. Once this email arrives you need to send in a cheque for all paid activities to the school by October 5, 2009. The cheque needs to include, Child Name, Activity Nam(s) and Code(s) and Date submitted.
For session 2, you will recieve an email the week of February 8, 2010, stating what activities have been assigned to your child. If you do not receive a confirmation then no classes have been confirmed. Activities begin the week of March 1st. Once you receive confirmation you need to send in a cheque to the school by March 19, 2010.
Potential Choir Members:
Potential choir members should not sign up for ECAs on choir days.
Primary choir members: Wednesday with extra practice on Thursday
Junior Treble Choir: Wednesday with extra practice on Thursday
Battle of the Books Activity:
For students who are interested in joining the Battle of the Books team should not sign up for activities on Wednesday from 3pm to 4pm. Please see Ms Holm for more information.

Child Pick-Up:
If you have not enrolled in the bus service, you must pick your child up following the course. For the safety of your child, we would like to ask that all parents and guardians pick up their children on the 9th floor by 4:10pm.
Bus Service:
If you have already registered with the bus service, we offer a full bus service at 4:20 bringing your child home (Kowloon is a limited service). Refunds:
No refunds will be given for student illness or school closure due to inclement weather.
